Timechain Summer of Code 2023 was an epic adventure with applications coming in from various corners of the world. The brand new 3-month-long open-source initiative by Timechain Labs received a pool of 1300 applications worldwide. Timechain Summer of Code 2023 was an epic adventure with applications coming in from various corners of the world. TSoC 2023:
Events & Webinars
TSoC was launched on May 15, 2023, with guest speaker Cyrille Albrecht, MD, at the Bitcoin Association. Throughout the 3-month program, several Industry Leaders from the BSV ecosystem conducted technical hands-on workshops and webinars to fortify the knowledge of all the contributors.

Building a Better Internet with Protocol Layers on top of BSV Blockchain

Deep Dive on Zero Knowledge Proofs

Phases
The entire 3-month program was divided into 3 phases each shaping and upskilling various skill sets of the contributors.
Whitepaper Phase
Before the contributors could even write a piece of code, this preparatory phase laid the groundwork for the Timechain Summer of Code 2023, focusing on comprehensive whitepaper development. A comprehensive whitepaper document detailing the problem statement, its nuances, and potential solutions was created for each project.
Design phase
During the design phase, contributors utilized tools like Miro, ApiDog, dbdiagram, and Figma to provide a tangible representation of what the final product may look like. For each project, the contributors created the following: <br> 1. A system architecture diagram <br> 2. API Design Specification <br> 3. Database Schema Design for optimal data management <br> 4. Low-Fidelity Wireframes
Development phase
Finally contributors produced weekly progress reports outlining challenges faced and upcoming plans for their projects. Code review reports were generated, identifying areas for improvement, and highlighting potential bugs.In the later stages, contributors focused on integration, testing, and bug fixing, delivering an integrated projectversion and a final, optimized version by the specified deadline of August 15, 2023.
Standup Success:
TSoC 2023 Highlights
With regular mentor guidance sessions the projects at TSoC 2023 witnessed weekly standup meets where the contributors were invited on a Google Meet by their respective Program Managers.
Misba Bagban, Project Lead at Devboard says, “Being new to web development, TSoC marked my first experience in team-oriented work. During daily standup meetings the entire team shared work updates and progress.”

Exceptional performance during mentor guidance sessions prompted our Founder & CEO, Rohan Sharan, to extend a week-long stay at the Timechain Citadel in Hyderabad. The unique experience of working side by side with mentors provided contributors with valuable insights and an enriching development journey.

Certificates and Goodies
To celebrate the success of the contributors at the Timechain Summer of Code, Top 100 Performers received certificates and goodies from Timechain Labs.
Additionally, they received exclusive goodies as a testament to their commitment and hard work. The goodie bag included a stylish Neucron T-shirt, sustainable pens, sipper, keychain, stickers, pop socket and a tote bag.
